FAQ
What is a location-based photography class?
A location-based photography class is a course where you will learn and practice photography techniques on locations. It provides an opportunity to capture stunning images in different settings, such as urban landscapes, nature, architecture, and more. This is done via group classes or more private one 2 ones.
How long is the class and what will I learn during my class?
All our beginner courses are 3 hours long, but not rushed. For the first half we look at the theory and when everyone is comfortable we go outside and have a practical session. In the class, you will learn all the aspects of the chosen class in detail. The class is theoretical and practical so you get to shoot images.
Do I need to have prior photography experience to join this class?
It is recommended to bring a digital camera (DSLR, mirrorless, or advanced compact camera) with manual settings. Additionally, a tripod, extra batteries, memory cards, and a laptop for post-processing may be useful, course dependant. However, these are not mandatory, and you can participate with any camera you have available.
What equipment do I need to bring to the class?
Where will the courses be based?
Course location details are normally sent via email when you book the course. The location will be easily accessible via public transport and we try to accommodate drivers with parking. This is always dependent on the city and we have no control over parking restrictions etc.
Can I use my smartphone for the class instead of a dedicated camera?
Yes, you can use a smartphone for the class. While a dedicated camera may offer more control and options, smartphones nowadays have advanced cameras capable of capturing high-quality images. The principles and techniques taught in the class can be applied to both smartphone and dedicated camera photography. We also have dedicated smartphone photography and video courses which may better suit your needs.
Can I receive feedback on my photographs during the class?
Yes, feedback is an integral part of the learning process. In most classes, instructors and fellow participants provide constructive feedback on the images captured during the outings. This feedback helps you improve your skills and gain different perspectives on your work.
Will there be opportunities for group discussions and networking?
Yes, location-based photography classes often encourage group discussions and provide opportunities for networking. You can connect with other photography enthusiasts, share ideas, exchange experiences, and create a supportive community of like-minded individuals.
Do I need prior experience or knowledge of photography to join a training course?
No prior experience is required for many photography training courses. They are designed to cater to individuals with various skill levels, from beginners to more advanced photographers. The courses often start with the basics and gradually progress to more advanced topics.
How can I find photography training courses near me?
To find photography training courses near you simply use the courses in my city and all the courses with dates will be filtered. We tend to cover most courses in most cities.Â
Do you have any special events?
Currently we will offer landscape photography group sessions in Glencoe by world renowned photographers, and London city scapes. These courses will be limited and season dependent and usually sell within 24 hours so we recommend you book as soon as you receive our newsletter. (you need to sign up to receive news and offers) We are also working on special group photography sessions in other countries such as Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Sweden and Norway. Feel free to register your interest via email.Â
Will there be any post-processing instruction in the class?
Our courses are designed so you make the most of the chosen subject and walk away feeling confident you learnt something. For this reason we do not offer post processing on courses unless it is an editing course.
